“THE GREAT NEW YORK STATE FAIR”
Marine Corps League Recruitment Drive
NY State Fairgrounds, Syracuse, NY
(August 27 to September 7, 2009)

Plans are being finalized for the Department of New York’s Booth at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY. This will be a great tool to increase our membership since over one-million visitors will visit the fair from all over New York State. If you, or your detachment, would like to volunteer to work at the Marine Corps League booth please email the Department Jr. Vice Commandant, Bill McGowan. We are looking for volunteers. The Dates are August 27 to September 7. 2009. We need a minimum of two people at the booth at all times during the week of the fair. The Department’s booth at the fair will be in the Veteran’s Area of the fairgrounds near the Horticulture building. Also, if your detachment has a brochure, send them to the Jr. Vice Commandant (address listed below) and they will be passed out to Marines in your detachment’s area when they show up at the booth. There will be a large map with the locations of all the department of New York’s Detachments marked on the map so we can recruit new members into the closest detachment to their home. If you or your detachment would like to volunteer, please email wmcgowan@mac.com or call 315 796-6380 by August 15, 2009 (so we can make a schedule) if you want to volunteer for a day, a week , or just a couple of hours. This is a department “state-wide” event so everyone is welcome to participate. Free passes to the fair and parking passes will be provided to all volunteers. Hope to see you at the fair.
